You may have noticed that we are still operating our Sonic and Five Nights at Freddy's music/soundboard bots in 2024 even though YouTube has sent cease and desists to big music bots back in 2021 like Groovy, Rythm (which became a Discord activity), and Hydra (which the bot was repurposed into a leveling/reaction role/+more bot due to YouTube). That probably makes you question why we are still able to continue. Well, I am here to answer that question.
First of all, since we are a non-profit community, we use songs from artists like DAGames, Little V, RaneMusic, and other artists like these which allows the use of their music in non-commercial/non-profit projects. Because we are a non-profit community, we are able to use these songs.
Second and the main reason why is, we use local .mp3 files. That means we are not using any streaming services or lavalinks to operate our music/soundboard bots. Since we don't use any streaming services for our music/soundboard bots, YouTube can't really sue us for using their platform for playing music in VC because we are not even using them.
You may be asking, why not use something like Soundcloud? Well, we don't want to offer a low quality service. Also, using a streaming service would break the purpose of the bot. That is why we picked .mp3 files in the first place.
So, these are the reasons why our music/soundboard bots still exist and how we are able to continue these services. Hope you will continue using our FNAF and Sonic music/soundboard bots.
